Precor Elliptical Trainers - An Overview

!±8± Precor Elliptical Trainers - An Overview

Precor is a provider of premium fitness equipment for the home and corporate environments. Elliptical machines provide trainers with cardiovascular exercise and strength training. The movement is low impact. Therefore, strain and stress are not placed on the back, knees and other joints. The movement on the elliptical machine simulates the motion of walking, stair climbing and jogging. As the foot pedals move in a circular motion, trainers will work a variety of muscles. The foot pedals move in a forward direction and reverse direction to target different muscle groups. The upper body will also receive a workout through the handle bars that move in a "push-pull" format to provide strength training for the upper body.

The foot pedals of the elliptical machine reside on a ramp that is adjustable to various angles to provide a workout for different muscle groups. Trainers may adjust the ramp angle from 15 degrees to 40 degrees through the display. The stride length is also adjustable on most of their machines. Their premium elliptical machines will adjust to stride lengths of 24.5 inches. Stride length becomes important when the person is tall. An adequate workout may not be obtained if the stride is not long enough to emulate the actual stride of a tall individual. Each of these options may be selected through the Quickstart LCD display. The ramp angle may be adjusted, the program selected or the stride may be adjusted through the Quickstart display.

Trainers may access over 15 different workout programs and up to 20 different resistance levels. Depending upon the trainer's goal, he or she will be able to select a variety of programs. If a program does not suit the trainer's needs, he or she may adjust the program manually. The display will also provide information regarding the number of calories burned, the heart rate, the distance traveled, strides per minute and resistance levels. The Quickstart display will keep trainers informed of their progress throughout the workout. Up to four different user identification codes may be established to customize each individual's workout. With a touch of a button, the user's personal preferences will be displayed and met.

Precor offers a proprietary feature that allows trainers to adjust the arms of the elliptical machine. By adjusting the location, trainers may focus on different muscle groups in the arms. This feature allows trainers more flexibility in their training regimen. The person's heart rate is monitored through contacts on the handle bars or alternatively through a transmitter that is placed on the chest. Heart rate will help the trainer determine if they are meeting their goals and if the exercise is too strenuous.

The shipping weight of the Precor Elliptical machine is approximately 290 pounds or less depending upon the model. Their premium model machine will also include 2 water bottles and an exercise mat. The exercise mat encourages trainers to continue their workout beyond the Precor Elliptical workout. Precor pays attention to details to provide trainers with an optimal workout experience.
